This Alcohol Stove Has a Secret Feature!

I ordered a titanium alcohol camping stove from Japan called the Ridge Song Blaze Turbo, and in this video I put it through a proper boil test against a classic Trangia alcohol stove.

The Ridge Song Blaze Turbo uses a nickel wire top plate, which is designed to make it a faster “turbo”- style alcohol burner. But does it actually make a difference, or does it just burn through fuel quicker?

In this test I check the stove, look at the kit, weigh it, compare it against the Trangia, and test how long each stove takes to boil 300 ml of water using 80 ml of fuel.

The results were interesting. The Ridge Song boiled 300 ml in 4 minutes 10 seconds, while the Trangia took 7 minutes 10 seconds. But both stoves gave around three 300 ml boils from 80 ml of fuel, so the Ridge Song is faster, but not more fuel efficient.

If you love alcohol stoves, titanium camping gear, backpacking stoves, or quiet camp cooking, this one is worth a look.
