I Thought This MSR Stove Gadget Was Pointless… I Was Wrong
The MSR LowDown Remote Stove Adapter looks like one of those bits of camping gear you probably don’t need… until you actually use it.
In this video, I test the MSR LowDown with a small gas stove to see whether turning a standard canister-top stove into a remote setup actually makes a worthwhile difference.
At 176g, it adds a little extra weight to your setup, but it gives you a much wider and more stable base, moves the gas canister away from the stove and puts the control valve further from the flame.
I was sceptical when I took it out of the box. By the end of the test, I’d completely changed my mind.
For campsite cooking, car camping, larger pots or simply making a small backpacking stove feel more secure, I can see myself using this a lot.
